Matusadona National Park

Matusadona National Park experiences

Lake Kariba

Situated on the southern shores of Lake Kariba, Matusadona National Park is one of Zimbabwe’s most scenic and wildlife-rich reserves. It combines mountains, savannahs, and lakeside floodplains, creating a sanctuary for elephants, lions, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles.

Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, from guided walking safaris and game drives to sunset boat cruises and fishing trips on the lake. Birders will find over 240 species, including fish eagles and herons. The best time to visit is during the dry season from May to October, when wildlife gathers along the shoreline and conditions are ideal for both game viewing and boating.

Lodges and camps within the park provide full dining options, offering freshly prepared local and international meals. The park is child-friendly, with family lodges and safe activity options. Bathrooms are available at lodges and main camps. Access is pay-to-enter, with well-maintained and secure parking at main gates and accommodations. Wheelchair access varies by lodge, but many newer properties are designed to accommodate guests with limited mobility.
