Located at the eastern end of Lake Kariba, the Kariba Dam Wall is one of Africa’s greatest engineering achievements, linking Zimbabwe and Zambia across the mighty Zambezi River. Standing 128 meters high and stretching 617 meters across, it offers incredible views of the lake on one side and the dramatic Kariba Gorge on the other.
Visitors can walk to designated viewing points, enjoy guided tours explaining the dam’s history and construction, and capture striking photographs of this monumental structure. The best time to visit is during the dry season from May to October, when the weather is clear, water levels are lower, and visibility is excellent.
Nearby restaurants and lodges in Kariba Town offer dining options with lake views. The site is child-friendly, with safe viewing areas. Bathrooms are available nearby. Access is free, though guided tours may charge a small fee. There is safe parking near the viewing points. Wheelchair access is limited but possible with assistance.
