Benguela Cove is a coastal wine estate along the R43 between Cape Town and Hermanus, overlooking the Bot River Lagoon in the Walker Bay wine region. The drive from Cape Town takes about 90 minutes and passes mountain and ocean scenery before arriving at vineyards set close to the coast.
Visitors can spend a relaxed day here with a variety of activities. Wine tastings and food pairings are popular, and guided vineyard safaris explore the estate by vehicle. Lagoon boat cruises, nature walks, and a visit to the estate’s art gallery add variety. There is also a pirate-themed adventure golf course for light entertainment. Summer and early autumn are ideal for outdoor visits, while winter and spring pair well with whale watching in nearby Hermanus.
Dining is available at on-site restaurants and picnic areas. Benguela Cove is child-friendly, with mini golf and play spaces. Bathrooms are available and the estate is wheelchair accessible. Entry is free, while activities have fees. A lagoon-side wine tasting is the highlight, often paired with visits to Hermanus and the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.
